About leBUZZ

le Buzz was started in February of 1999 to cover the Be Operating System as a platform on which to do professional audio work. Since then, we have been reporting the news on a daily basis, covering every nuance of BeOS audio. Over time, our focus broadened to include coverage of all high bandwidth professional media, including video, television, and 3D/animation.

In December of 1999, leBUZZ spawned a new review site called, The Studio Lab (no longer active) which specialized in providing product reviews for BeOS media pros. Based on review rankings, StudioLab selected “favorites” that we recommended as the best picks for “project studio/home studio” and “high-end pro studio” settings.

We were covering audio for the Be Operating System, and the metaphor and image of a “bee” were already common in the BeOS community. Since our web site was to be a report on the latest “buzz” about audio, it leBUZZ (the buzz) seemed like an natural.

Just who is the guy who writes all this stuff? That’s me. I’m Dane Scott, a former radio broadcaster, now freelancing as a narrator, commercial producer, and web designer. I started leBUZZ after becoming convinced the BeOS is a great operating system for high bandwidth media development.

When not doing my leBUZZ writing or working on my “trade,” I love to climb into my boat (we live on a river) and head out onto the water for an evening of fishing. I also play bass guitar and some lead guitar in a contemporary Christian worship team, which is a fun and rewarding experience.

As you might suspect by my involvement in a worship team, I am a born-again Christian who made the decision to trust Jesus Christ to forgive my sins and lead my life. That was easily the best decision I ever made, and I recommend it to everybody. I would love the opportunity to share my faith or answer questions, so feel free to contact me about it.

Have fun with leBUZZ, and I hope it’s helpful to you!

Dane Scott

Whoo-hoo! You’re a born-again Christian! Every now and then, I try to see what old apps are still chugging along, in BeOS or Haiku, and seems TuneTracker is the last of the “big boys”.

What’s going on in your neck of the woods, BeOS/Haiku-related, these days?
